On March 11th 2023 Burrito got adopted.

14-year-old, four-paw-declawed Burrito was brought to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) by his owners for aggression and transferred to us. When he arrived, we noticed how misshapen (and one was severely swollen) his paws were. Through a joint effort between PHLF and The Paw Project, Burrito was sent for xrays at Oyster Bay Animal Hospital where remnants of the digit that is normally amputated during a declaw procedure were found on every single digit. Burrito had paw revision surgery Glendale Veterinary Clinic (funded by The Paw Project) a few weeks ago and has been doing very well since. We can’t give him back his toes or his claws, but we can do what we can to make him comfortable.

Dr. Susan gave Burrito a kiss and a Churu for the road (he has shown zero signs of aggression while with us and while on pain meds) and Burrito went to his new home over the weekend. His new family have adopted from us before, giving a then 16-year-old kitty Tinker a foreverhome until he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at 18. They also have a vet-to-be in the family so Burrito will be in good hands.

Burrito’s 14th birthday was this week and he celebrated with his mom, Deborah, and his new family. Happy Birthday and Happy Gotcha Day Burrito — we miss you but know that you’re happy in your forever home.
