It’s always upsetting when cats are returned to the shelter, no matter what the reason is. On Wednesday night, Cleo (grey) was returned to us and on Thursday morning, Pablo was returned — both owners could no longer care for them. The cats have no idea what just happened and it takes time for them to assimilate to the shelter. Some never really adjust to the loss of a home and the stress of the loss can precipitate illness. It’s just heartbreaking to see them cowering in a cage.

Our volunteer Pam, comes in every Thursday to lend a helping hand. She saw that Cleo had been returned and helped get Pablo’s cage ready as he was brought in. In an amazing turn of events, Pam, who had recently lost her last kitty, said “why don’t they both come home with me”?

Through our Seniors for Seniors program, on Friday, 4/24/23, Pam won’t have to worry about medical expenses, and Pablo and Cleo won’t have to get used to the shelter again. We are so happy for all !
