10-year-old Mittens and her 9-year-old daughter, Luna Lollipop, were relinquished to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) due to allergies. When they first came to us, we were very worried about poor Mittens, who was very sick with a severe URI (upper respiratory infection). Eventually, we got her to eat and with a lot of TLC and meds, she recovered.

Margaret, who has always had kitties, lost her beloved Gracie and wanted to adopt an older, bonded pair.

We couldn’t think of a better pair than Mittens and Luna for Margaret, and the three of them hit it off immediately. We’re happy to say that through our Seniors for Seniors program (where we cover the reasonable future medical expenses of senior cats adopted by senior citizens) we were able to keep Luna and Mittens together and fill the hole that Gracie left in Margaret’s heart.

The trio are doing so well — Margaret reports that both of them rolled over for belly rubs when they woke up in the morning after their first night in their
