Pumpkin’s Second Chance on 12/14/25.

Pumpkin’s story could have ended very differently. He was left on a Bronx sidewalk in an open carrier—confused, vulnerable, and waiting for someone to notice him. Thankfully, compassionate rescuer John DeBacker did notice and stepped in to save him.

Pumpkin eventually made his way to us, where he waited patiently for the one thing every cat deserves: a real second chance.

That chance came thanks to SSFC who referred Jasmin and her dad to us—and from that moment on, the rest is happily-ever-after history. Pumpkin has found the loving home he was always meant to have.

We are so grateful to everyone who played a role in this journey, from rescue to referral to forever family. Stories like Pumpkin’s remind us why we do this work—because every abandoned cat deserves hope, love, and a home.
