After spending two weeks trapped in a chimney, little Smudge’s future was uncertain. She arrived frightened, exhausted, underweight and unsure of the world around her. We worked hard to help her recover physically after her ordeal — providing fluids, careful nutritional support, GI diets for her tummy troubles and lots of patience while she slowly regained her strength.

While Smudge was never aggressive, she clearly hadn’t been socialized to people and learning to trust was going to take time, understanding and a very special home.

That special person turned out to be Tracey on 5/6/26.

Tracey understands that Smudge may need patience and gentle encouragement as she continues learning that people can be kind. And the best part? Smudge now has her very own catio where she can safely watch the world, enjoy the sunshine and continue blossoming at her own pace.

Happy life, sweet Smudge. We are so proud of how far you’ve come.
