Sugar & Spice came to us several months ago after being rescued from a window well by John DeBacker. When they first arrived, these sweet kittens were terrified and completely unsocialized. We worked hard to help them learn that people could be kind, safe, and loving.

Over time, they made incredible progress — eagerly climbing into our laps for Churu treats before quickly darting away once snack time was over. While they came a long way, they always seemed to prefer each other over us, and honestly, that bond was beautiful to see.

Eventually, we moved them into one of our larger communal rooms so they could run, play, and have the exercise they needed. They weren’t lap cats, and we worried we might never find the perfect person who would understand them and give them the patience they deserved.

Well… we were wrong.

Stacey saw them online and completely fell in love. Yesterday, she took an Uber all the way back and forth from the Bronx just to bring these babies home. Stacey comes from a long line of cat and dog lovers and understands that trust takes time. She doesn’t expect them to change overnight — she’s ready to let them blossom at their own pace.

Some cats just need someone willing to love them exactly as they are. Sugar & Spice finally found that person on 5/16/26
