Little Westy’s journey to safety started with a cry for help.

On his way to our booth at the Gold Coast Book Fair, rescuer John Debacker responded to an emergency call regarding a tiny kitten crying in a backyard in West Islip. Of course, John couldn’t just walk away. He scooped up the little guy and brought him straight to us at the event.

We gave Westy a quick veterinary check and immediately noticed a wound and swelling on his left forelimb. He wasn’t putting any weight on it, so off he went to the emergency hospital for X-rays.

Poor baby has a broken leg. Thankfully, thanks to John’s quick action, Westy now has pain medication, antibiotics, and a safe place to heal while we wait for an orthopedic evaluation to determine whether splinting and cage rest will be enough for recovery.
